Recognizing the importance of exploiting the $4.5 billion spent on basic research at the universities, research institutions and research hospitals in the state, the Massachusetts legislature created and funded the Massachusetts Technology Transfer Center in 2003.
The Center works closely with other programs also funded through the 2003 Economic Stimulus Bill, including the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, the John Adams Innovation Institute, the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation and the Trust Fund.

Solent Synergy recognises that South Hampshire already has in place many of the basic elements of a knowledge economy, and that opportunities exist to stimulate and promote the knowledge economy further.
Solent Synergy builds on and works in partnership with existing provision in support of the knowledge economy in South Hampshire. The initiative is characterised by joined-up thinking among the providers of those services, and readiness on the part of local authorities and academia to forego local boundary competition for the benefit of the wider sub-region.

Our team is comprised of more than 20 professionals with PhDs, JDs, and MBAs with significant private sector experience and are organized into two service platforms:
Technology Transfer Services evaluates and patents inventions from UC Davis faculty, researchers, and staff, and licenses those inventions for commercialization in the private sector, in order to benefit the public.
Business Development Services helps develop strategic research alliances with industry; provides commercialization support for early-stage UC Davis technologies; and supports entrepreneurship and UC Davis originated start-up companies.
