  • Assess innovation capacity and facilitate technology cluster development
  • Accelerate region-to region collaborations

The Global CONNECT Team is:

Experienced

We draw from the success of San Diego's economic transformation and on its relationship with the international research community to provide customized cluster development support to regions around the world. In addition, we have been entrenched in the organic development and growth of San Diego’s economy and can provide training in creating and implementing programs that accelerate innovation capacity and facilitate technology cluster development.

Knowledgeable

We have extensive knowledge of the essential components and processes which enhance innovation capacity including how research institutions are organized for technology transfer, commercialization, and best business practices which can promote cluster growth.

Uniquely Positioned

We sit at the interface between knowledge creation and flow of ideas into the public sector via translation and commercialization. We are a part of the University of California San Diego and are involved in regional innovation research, as well as having intimate ties to community based organizations that promote regional growth and innovation.

Global

Many regions around the world are recognizing the power of collaboration to accelerate the communications and partnership so critical to innovation and cluster growth. With over 30 CONNECT-like organizations around the world we leverage our extensive social and professional networks to facilitate access to R&D collaborators, key supply chain partners, potential customers, talent, direct investment, and market liquidity channels.

Our History

Global CONNECT was founded in 2003 as a sister program to the regionally focused CONNECT program at UCSD. CONNECT was founded in 1985 with the mission of contributing to the increased commercialization of research in San Diego and stimulating economic growth in the region. CONNECT has assisted the formation and development of over 1,000 companies, and is widely regarded as one of the United States’ most successful regional programs linking inventors and entrepreneurs with the resources they need to succeed.

In 2005, CONNECT became an independent entity while Global CONNECT remains a part of UCSD. CONNECT and Global CONNECT continue to work closely together and collaborate on many projects.
