Out Approach

Bespoke

Each client has unique goals and objectives for what they want to achieve, and many "off the shelf" services are not able to accommodate what is being sought.  Global CONNECT customizes its offerings based on the needs of our clients in order to fill that gap.  Content, structure, location, and our team of experts are all tailored to match each individual project.

Practitioner-Oriented

While theory is obviously important, there are many things that cannot be learned in a text book. Our teams include experienced practitioners who can share their real-world perspectives.  Site visits and practical exercises are also frequently incorporated into our educational programs.

Uniquely Positioned

We sit at the interface between knowledge creation and flow of ideas into the public sector via translation and commercialization. We are a part of the University of California San Diego and are involved in regional innovation research, as well as having intimate ties to community based organizations that promote regional growth and innovation.

Our History

Global CONNECT was founded in 2003 as a sister program to the regionally focused CONNECT program at UCSD. CONNECT was founded in 1985 with the mission of contributing to the increased commercialization of research in San Diego and stimulating economic growth in the region. CONNECT has assisted the formation and development of over 1,000 companies, and is widely regarded as one of the United States’ most successful regional programs linking inventors and entrepreneurs with the resources they need to succeed.

In 2005, CONNECT became an independent entity while Global CONNECT remains a part of UCSD. CONNECT and Global CONNECT continue to work closely together and collaborate on many projects.

Global CONNECT's projects in the San Diego-Baja California region build upon the work of the San Diego Dialogue's crossborder programs.  San Diego Dialogue was a public program of UC San Diego Extension, which under the leadership of Charles Nathanson, became a leading source of information on issues affecting the binational region.
